WELCOME:
The Allies, feeling that the war against Germany is won already, are taking it easy. On 16th of December, 1944, Generals Eisenhower and Bradley are at a party, and General Montgomery is playing golf. Meanwhile, The German Army unleashes a large-scale surprise attack (Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein-Operation Watch on the Rhine) against the quiet American front located in the Ardennes area taking advantage of the bad weather which prevents the Allies from using their air superiority.
You are in control of the German armed forces. Your main task is to reach Brussels, which would open to you a route to the strategic port city of Antwerp. This would essentially split the Allies in two, hopefully causing enough political tensions to force the Allies to sign a peace treaty.
What's unique in this scenario: You'll get MP Depots, which you must permanently commit to a hexagon. These MP Depots give MP to nearby units, forcing you to do long term planning about troop movements and trajectories of the future maneuvering.
The game is over if:_# Germans reach OVER 180 VPs, or_# Germans control less than 10 VPs. Total of 200 Victory Points in play in this particular campaign.
Quick tips: Settings: You can change hexagon size, city icons, unit icons, and many other aspects from settings, or via the four round buttons in the upper-left corner of the gaming view. Unit markings: Lower left corner shows HPs (Hit Points), upper left corner shows the number of MPs (move points), right side has several type of markings: warnings on red, attached resources on white, ground information (what's under unit icon) is marked on green. Zooms buttons (Z) are located on upper-left corner. Combat core concepts: adjacent units critically support each other in battle; encircling is often more efficient than using brute-force direct attacks.
CAMPAIGN NOTES:
Victory Condition: Control OVER 180 Victory Points (VPs), which are gained from the cities. Total of 200 Victory Points in play in this particular campaign.
To keep the flow of the play fluid this campaign does not feature physical support units (Generals, Artillery, etc.), instead Stuka Strikes are available as resources (after the turn 9).
Replacement types: Pz4 and Pz5 disband into Pz4 replacements. Pz6 to Pz6. Volk to Volk. WWS to WSS. And everything else with HPs gives German infantry replacements.
Strategic Resources: This campaign includes some Strategic Resources, which are like regular resources except that you can use ONLY ONE Strategic Resource per turn.
US Fuel Depot will, when seized, give extra MPs and some various resources. The US Fuel Depot will be removed from the play after it has been seized. Shown as FU marker on unit which is located over US Fuel Depot.
German Supply Depots will give the closest unit (within reasonable range) +1 MP each turn. However, if enemy captures German Supply Depot, all the nearby German units will lose 0-4 MPs. Shown as DE marker on unit located over German Supply Depot.
Resource menu: Since you can only use one strategic resource per turn, they are ONLY included in the resource count when they are available. Once you have requested one Strategic resource during a turn, the remaining strategic resources are excluded from the resource count.
WSS unit is considered as Motorized unit type for traffic rules (which increase the fatigue when several units are located in a single hexagon).
