WELCOME: First World War: Western Front by Joni Nuutinen is a large-scale, turn-based strategy game that takes place during the First World War. You are in command of the German armed forces, and the object of the campaign is to conquer the strategic part of France as quickly as possible.

VICTORY CONDITIONS

The game ends when Germans reach OVER 300 Victory Points (VPs), which are gained from cities. Total of 320 VPs in play in this particular campaign.

Settings: You can change hexagon size, city icons, unit icons, and many other aspects from settings, or via the four round buttons in the upper-left corner of the gaming view. Unit markings: Lower left corner shows HPs (Hit Points), upper left corner shows the number of MPs (move points), right side has several type of markings: warnings on red, attached resources on white, ground information (what's under unit icon) is marked on green. Zooms buttons (Z) are located on upper-left corner. Combat core concepts: adjacent units critically support each other in battle: encircling is often more efficient than using brute-force direct attacks.

Victory Conditions: Control OVER 300 Victory Points (VPs), which are gained from the cities.

Tap production locations (green diamonds) to change what they are manufacturing.

Range of Artillery barrages automatically increases over the years.

Stosstruppen and A7V/Mark1/FT17 tank units arrived a bit earlier than historically accurate to get them a chance to be part of the active game play.

British and French Tank units have extra combat bonus during the first battles (tank panic), the bonus is biggest during the first combat and slowly diminishes as troops get used to tanks on the battlefield.

Time scale speeds up during December and January since those months saw the least combat (waterlogged terrain and lack of daylight).

Some of the newer code mentions 'province', but since this small-scale game does not include actual provinces with borders, this usually implies to hexagons within the range of three from the city.

Some German supply cities are located away from the rear area to reduce the massive amount of supply route calculations caused by the size of the map and the number of units.

Some slightly incorrect military-history terms (like Fort for minor dugouts) are used simply because they are short (map won't be flooded with long text tags) and these terms are known to even non-native English speakers.
