UNION (American Civil War) specific documentation
Generals have a handful of unique actions: They can raise balloon (recon) units, militia, artillery, ammo depots, raise taxes, and even summon more generals.
Supply exception: Union units located in a land hexagon that is adjacent to ocean hexagon are considered to be in-supply thanks to Union naval superiority. This allows landing Union units in Confederate rear area with riverboats.
TAX LOCATION: Produces gold. If TRANSPORT GOLD mode is turned ON, gold units will emerge near tax locations and you need to transport these gold shipments to a key city marked with yellow circles when a gold shipment is selected. If TRANSPORT GOLD mode is turned OFF, the gold will automatically be added to your available total gold.
BARRACKS: Training barracks provide +1 HP infantry replacements for the Union Army. These replacements will be automatically added to the resource pool (accessible via the RES button at the bottom of the screen).
Ammo Depots: There are two completely different playing modes that have their own Hall of Fame listings. With Ammo Depots turned ON, the player must build, maintain, and transport around ammo depots, that are required for the units to attack and for the artillery and gunboat units to launch a barrage. Playing with ammo depots requires more long-term planning and consumes more gold, and therefore the Hall of Fame separates the scores based on the ammo depot status. Please note that turning Ammo Depots ON or OFF from Settings only applies to the game started AFTER changing the option. Please notice that changing the Ammo Depot setting DURING an ongoing game WILL NOT affect the current ongoing game.
GOLD. The amount of gold in your resource pool (immediately available for purchases). If the TRANSPORT GOLD option is turned on, the player must slowly transport gold that emerges from the tax locations to the key cities that take in gold. The cities that take in gold will have several yellow circles around them whenever a moveable gold unit is selected. Purchases with gold happen either via the gold-menu at the bottom of the screen or via the action-menu when a general is selected.
Train, Riverboat: Both train and riverboat can transport troops, artillery, ammo depots and gold with them. Just move the train or riverboat into the same hexagon as the unit you want to transport, and press LOAD/UNLOAD button - now when you move train or riverboat the unit moves along with it.
Balloon (unit) = Scout-actions reveals some of the nearby hexagons.
Menu items WELCOME and STRENGTH MAP alternate. So tap the menu item once to flip it to the other option. Note: Only shows WELCOME during the first turn.
