A group of German units is encircled behind the Soviet front line in Demyansk early in 1942. Since this sector is located in the wilderness between Moscow and Leningrad, you'll only have a ragtag collection of units, from Stug-3 to auxiliary units, at your disposal. Yet you are supposed to open up and keep open a corridor to the encircled troops while holding the city of Demyansk, which intermittently provides supply to the cut-off units.

⊕ Taking place from: 1942-01
⊕ Map size: 1400 = 40 x 35
⊕ Specials: Use ragtag medley of units to link up with an encircled group of German units. A bit similar setup to Market Garden.
⊕ Released: 2012-02
WELCOME:
Demyansk Pocket 1942 is a turn based strategy game set on the Eastern Front during the Second World War.
Historical background: During the attacks of the winter of 1941-1942 the Soviet Red Army managed to encircle 100,000 German soldiers holding the front line in Demyansk. After receiving reinforcements, the German Army unleashed an offensive from Staraya Russa. The purpose of this was not to evacuate the encircled units, but to re-open a dubious land connection to the out-of-supply forces. Meanwhile, the encircled units, inadequacy supplied by Luftwaffe, engaged in a cutthroat battle for the life or death.
In the game you take command of both the encircled units and the fresh Divisions attempting to re-establish a land route from Staraya Russa to Demyansk. Supply inside the Demyansk Pocket is partial, meaning sometimes units do not gain move points between turns.
VICTORY CONDITIONS:
Keep the land route from the city of Staraya Russa to the city of Demyansk open for 9 consecutive turns.
QUICK TIPS: Settings: You can change hexagon size, city icons, unit icons, and many other aspects from settings, or via the four round buttons in the upper-left corner of the gaming view. Unit markings: Lower left corner shows HPs (Hit Points), upper left corner shows the number of MPs (move points), right side has several type of markings: warnings on red, attached resources on white, ground information (what's under unit icon) is marked on green. Zooms buttons (Z) are located on upper-left corner. Combat core concepts: adjacent units critically support each other in battle encircling is often more efficient than using brute-force direct attacks.
CAMPAIGN NOTES:
Victory Conditions: Keep the land route from the city of Staraya Russa to the city of Demyansk open for 9 consecutive turns.
Supply inside the Demyansk Pocket is partial, meaning sometimes units do not gain move points between turns.
Unlike other campaigns the purpose is NOT to control the entire area but instead to open a corridor (tunnel) between two German held areas, AND hold that route open for 7 turns.
If the city of Simsk is lost (located in the upper-left corner of the map), no more reinforcement units will arrive for the Axis side.
Airfields work differently in this campaign than other campaigns. After selecting an airfield, you can tap a unit within the given range to assign extra MPs. As you lost of the airfield, you lose extra moment.
No airforce units, other than some rare Stuka Strikes, since there was no noteworthy air force activity on this particular area, which was located between major targets of Moscow and Leningrad.
Some slightly incorrect military-history terms (like Fort for minor dugouts) are used simply because they are short (map won't be flooded with long text tags) and these terms are known to even non-native English speakers.

Some of the newer code mentions 'province', but since this small-scale game does not include actual provinces with borders, this usually implies to hexagons within the range of two from the city.
