Hold the central Berlin as long as possible against the overwhelmingly massive concentration of Soviet divisions which want to be the first Allied troops in the capital of the Third Reich. Meanwhile, as the end nears the available infrastructure is slowly crumbling down, making effective defense harder and harder.

WELCOME:
Battle of Berlin 1945 is a turn based strategy game set on the Eastern front during the last months of the Second World War in European Theater. The aim is to hold the central Berlin as long as possible against the impossible odds.
VICTORY CONDITIONS:
The game ends when Germans lose control of the central Berlin.
HISTORY:There never was a solid plan for the defense of the German Capital, other than hoping that front line based on Oder river would hold, in spite of the fact that most battle hardened WSS and Panzer Divisions were sent to the Southern sector. Railways were destroyed to prevent the Red Army from using them to transport supplies, and roads were unusable due to the dugouts and refugees. To avoid creating defeatist atmosphere defenses were not build in the Berlin itself. While the Germans were lacking everything, the Red Army had air superiority, massive amounts of artillery and huge number of -- mostly US build -- trucks giving them a crushing mobility. In addition of this Berlin was hit by 83 massive air raids between 1 February and 21 April.
NOTES: In this campaign the front line West of Berlin is ignored, as western Allies had decided not to advance towards Berlin.
Please do notice that most of the Ammo Depots (green diamond shape on the map), which provide resources, are located on northern and southern sector.
QUICK TIPS: Settings: You can change hexagon size, city icons, unit icons, and many other aspects from settings, or via the four round buttons in the upper-left corner of the gaming view. Unit markings: Lower left corner shows HPs (Hit Points), upper left corner shows the number of MPs (move points), right side has several type of markings: warnings on red, attached resources on white, ground information (what's under unit icon) is marked on green. Zooms buttons (Z) are located on upper-left corner. TMP-system: By controlling Key Tactical Locations (green diamonds) you will gain TMPs (Tactical Move Points), which can be used to move between two hexagons sharing Tactical Route (yellow-green arrow between the hexagons) without losing regular MPs. Combat core concepts: adjacent units critically support each other in battle: encircling is often more efficient than using brute-force direct attacks.
CAMPAIGN NOTES:
Victory Conditions: Hold on as long as possible. Or if you can manage to do the impossible: Stop the Soviet Red Army and seize their supply cities.
Please note that the HOF (Hall of Fame) includes BOTH scores with victories (full VPs) and lose games (zero VP).
Generals AKA HQs have actions like Disband, Breach, and Withdraw.
HQ can give up 6 MPs to give all the ground forces a free step west within a range of two hexagons.
Unit Cohesion: Each (nearby) lost battle decreases cohesion, and similarly victories increase it. Warnings appear if cohesion below 20 percent, unit scatters if cohesion is at zero. You can think of it as morale (but since abbreviation MO would be too confusing, cohesion (CO) is used instead).
Usually the aim of a campaign is to capture cities and gain Victory Points, or capture certain targets in certain order, but in Berlin 1945, you simply must hold the central of Berlin as long as possible.
The civil flag of Berlin was chosen for the logo to keep the bear looking tolerable on smaller low resolution screen.
This campaign is meant to be a one where Germans lack everything - especially movement - so if you had excess of something, let me know.
There is a special stacking limit in this campaign, due to the Berlin being such a central target.
Some slightly incorrect military-history terms (like Fort for minor dugouts) are used simply because they are short (map won't be flooded with long text tags) and these terms are known to even non-native English speakers.
Some of the newer code mentions 'province', but since this small-scale game does not include actual provinces with borders, this usually implies to hexagons within the range of two from the city.
